**Overview** **The Work:** The Interpreter& Translatorwill provide interpretationand translation to agenciesforindividuals with a language barrier.Interpretation will consist of but not limited to Education, legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services, etc. This may require interpretation and translation onsite or remote This position performs all duties and responsibilitiesin accordance withthe Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse. **Responsibilities** **Key Responsibilities:** + Accurately translate spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings.  + Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.  + Reading an original document and translating it into the language required. + Editing translated versions + Will need to be sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process + Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Qualifications - Here's What You Need** **:** + High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience + Medical Interpreting Training School + Foreign Service Institute + Legal Translation online certifications + Certified Translation Professional. + Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters. + Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc. + Must be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Chin Hakka, Dari, Farsi/Persian, French, German, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, and ASL. + Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment. + The ability tofacilitatecommunication with discretion and impartiality.  + Proficiencyin oral and written communication  + A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics  + Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness  + The ability to track and remember information and concepts while simultaneously interpreting them.  + Physical stamina and dexterity for extended interpretation sessions + Mustpossessproblem-solving skills. + Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc. + Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time. + Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature. + Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team. **Reports to** :DeputyProgram Manager **Working Conditions:** + Professional remote environment. + Must be able to be on-call. Translator/Interpreter will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs. + Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time. + Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. + Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace. + Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen. + May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays. + May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes. + May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
