Job Description

Position Overview

This role will assist Professor Luis Corteguera with research focused on European history, with a particular emphasis on gender studies. Responsibilities may include conducting literature reviews, analyzing historical texts, and contributing to the development of scholarly materials. This experience will provide the student with valuable exposure to academic research methodologies and deepen their understanding of historical narratives and gender dynamics in European contexts.

Job Description

40% – Photocopying

  • Operate photocopying equipment to reproduce scholarly materials and departmental resources.

20% – Document Printing

  • Prepare and print various academic and administrative documents as needed.

20% – Scanning Publications

  • Digitize scholarly publications, including texts in multiple foreign languages, ensuring high-quality and accurate scans.

20% – Additional Duties

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support departmental operations and research activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of university-level coursework with a major or minor in History.
  • Previous experience that required a proficiency in communication skills, as reflected in the application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the field of History, as evidenced in application materials.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.


(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
